Cleaning — A little care after playing

Sweat and grime build up on strings, frets and metal parts. A wipe with a clean, dry microfibre cloth after playing helps limit corrosion and keeps the instrument feeling right.

For the body, use only a product that suits the finish. Avoid alcohol, strong solvents and general-purpose cleaners. Don't spray liquids directly onto the instrument's electronics.

Fretboard care depends on the wood and the finish: lacquered fretboards don't need oil, while on unfinished ones any suitable conditioner should be used sparingly. Regular gentle care beats an aggressive clean once a lot of dirt has built up. Before you close the case, make sure no moisture is left.
