Why an instrument needs a service

Your instrument doesn't need to break down to benefit from a service. With use and changes in its environment, the feel, the string height and the tuning stability can all shift.

An instrument service includes an inspection and, where needed, maintenance or adjustments to the neck, the nut, the bridge and the electronics. Fret wear and the condition of the strings are checked as well.

How often depends on how much you play and on the storage conditions. If the instrument tires you more than it used to, buzzes or responds differently, it's worth having it checked. Dealing with small problems early keeps it enjoyable and reliable to play.
